Australia’s ransomware threat is rising, and this form of malware can have a devastating financial and reputational impact on enterprises. Ransomware attacks are not new, but they have quickly become more sophisticated and expensive.
There has been a 60 percent increase in ransomware attacks against Australian organisations in the past year. The value of ransom demands has also risen, the number of malicious emails people are receiving is up by 600 percent due to COVID-19, and remote workers will be the main target of cybercriminals throughout 2021.
No organization is immune from cybercriminals’ attempts to take control of its data enterprises can do more to mitigate the threat.
During this session we learned how organisations can quickly respond and recover from a ransomware attack by:
- Being prepared for cyberattacks by adopting more than just perimeter defence
- Understanding why backups are a critical part of companies’ overall security posture
- Recovering quickly to minimize lost data and business impact
