It was awesome to host another CIO and CDO Sydney Lunch for Veritas. Our speaker Geoff Coley – CTO of Veritas opened up the discussions on the below.
Veritas Technologies is a global leader in data protection, availability, and insights. During interviews conducted by Veritas in 2020, 57% of Australian organisations revealed that data management and security measures have not kept pace with IT complexity.
On top of this, 71% of employees admitted to sharing sensitive and business-critical company data using instant messaging and business collaboration tools. Organisations risk compliance and protection disasters unless their data management practices catch up with the evolution of information sharing.
We discussed:
- In the space of just a few months, the COVID-19 crisis has brought about years of change in the way Australian organisations in all sectors do business.
- While accelerating their digital transformation plans, many are tackling the “new norm” – particularly the rise of the hybrid working model (necessitating more end-point user devices and greater remote access to data and applications).
- This is leading to a “transformation gap” where their digital acceleration is rapidly outpacing the evolution of their data management and security measures – opening them up to the risk of ransomware, spiralling costs, and compliance failures
- We will discuss how CIOs are tackling Costs, Cyber resiliency, Cloud, and Compliance – now – and in the next few years
